The ROBOPALOOZA.space 2025 event is envisioned as a vibrant, multi-day event blending:
Brought to Perth together with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. The event will attract global visitors to Western Australia (WA), inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists while showcasing WA’s leadership across industries in robotics, automation, and innovation.
SPACE + ROBOTS + ROCK N' ROLL
Take a look at what is coming!
You will operate the "Helelani" planetary rover remotely from any location in the world. All you will need is a computer with an internet connection. The competition will challenge each team to move the rover remotely through an obstacle course as quickly as possible. Teams must navigate around each waypoint without hitting it. The team with the best time, less any penalties assessed for missing or hitting waypoints, will win a cash prize of $5000 USD split equally among the team members (Competitors must be over the age of 18).

Excitement, Innovation and Impact.
For students (university level or post secondary education, including vocational) to develop something fresh and innovative. The startups presented must align with the interests of the attendees (spanning mining, space and defense).
This is about startups bringing something real, actionable, and valuable to the table. Each founder will present what their solution is, why it matters to this audience, and what specific support unlocks immediate progress. A ten-minutes to each startup, tightly run, high impact format to ensure attendees can walk away with concrete next steps and fresh opportunities, more than just inspiration.
Note: A maximum of 6 tertiary startup teams will be selected, so make sure YOUR startup stands out!
Helelani (or “Heavenly Travels”) is a 700-pound planetary rover equipped with a suite of instruments and imaging systems that can be controlled remotely. The rover’s open payload design offers a mobile testing platform for planetary surface systems. Space agencies anywhere in the world can pilot Helelani tele-robotically through the rugged terrain of planetary analog test sites.
