The second annual IEEE Telepresence Competition will be held on 06 October 2025, in Perth, Australia using the "Helelani" planetary rover from Hawai'i. The challenge will take place as part of the Robopalooza.space 2025 event at the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP), a world-leading collaborative innovation hub and Australia’s largest test and development site supporting the advancement of automation, robotics, remote operations and zero emissions technologies.
The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) is the world's largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. Its core purpose is to foster technological innovation and excellence in fields like electrical and electronics engineering, computing, and related disciplines

Helelani (or “Heavenly Travels”) is a 700-pound planetary rover equipped with a suite of instruments and imaging systems that can be controlled remotely. The rover’s open payload design offers a mobile testing platform for planetary surface systems. Space agencies anywhere in the world can pilot Helelani tele-robotically through the rugged terrain of planetary analog test sites.
